Abstract

SYNOPSIS The role and use of Hypermedia as a multimedia information management tool in education is described. The associative structure of Hypermedia material, its interactive use, annotative facilities and the integrative use of multimedia makes Hypermedia a potentially effective tool and aid to the educator as education primarily deals with the transfer of information. Currently an information explosion is taking place and it is of strategic importance that educators deal effectively and efficiently with the emanating consequences. To evaluate its use and applicability, a specific Hypermedia authoring package -HyperWriter!-has been used to convert existing forest management lecture notes to Hypermedia. It is speculated that the technology will have a significant influence on future education and other related fields.
