Abstract

The hyperfragment production by fast π-meson interactions is shown to be well explained by the model ofJoneset al. (1). In particular, the short-range hyperfragments are shown to be predominantly very heavy and not light as had been supposed. The conclusions ofSilverstein (3),Fryet al. (4) andLokanathanet al. (5) are critically examined with recourse to this fact.
