Abstract
The splitting between the $^{1}\mathrm{P}_{1}$ and the center of gravity of the $^{3}\mathrm{P}_{\mathrm{j}}$ states of heavy quarkonia is evaluated using the perturbative QCD expression for the hyperfine potential. The theoretical result is about 1% of the absolute fine-structure splitting and disagrees with an experimental value.
