Abstract

The cubic elpasolite Cs 2NaHoF 6 is a Van Vleck paramagnet with a nonmagnetic γ 3 ground state and an enhanced nuclear magnetic moment. Above 2 K a single resonance line of the Ho nuclei is seen. At 20 mK a resolved nuclear resonance line spectrum is observed, enabling the determination of the hyperfine and quadrupolar interaction parameters. It is argued that a phase transition occurs above 20 mK.
