Abstract
<h3>To the Editor.—</h3> I am greatly consoled to learn my small role in prompting Harnes to look into the effects of "Pilfering the Prepuce." I yield to none in my admiration for his scientific attempt to decide whether he has been sexually deprived as a result of being circumcised. From some of the gratuitous comments I received following publication of "The Rape of the Phallus," several correspondents, who had suffered from balanitis or some other nasty disease of this region, maintained coitus was more satisfactory following circumcision, but an equal number complained that "they had been robbed." The latter usually were intact unmutilated males at the time they entered the service but by the completion of their tour of duty found themselves not only raped but sexually deprived—hardly "butchered to make a Roman holiday" but certainly "raped to keep an embryo plumber amused."
