Abstract

Recently, electrochemical method received extensive attention and has been widely explored as an highly sensitive and selective technique for the detection of biomolecules and other toxic compounds. Urea is one of the biomolecule which is present in blood or urine. Urea is widely used as a fertilizer and present in food products. In this paper, we have synthesized MoSe2/rGO composite using hydrothermal approach. The synthesized MoSe2/rGO composite was characterized by various advanced techniques such as XRD, SEM, EDX, and XPS. Further, glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was modified with MoSe2/rGO composite (MoSe2/rGO/GCE) by using drop-cast approach. The modified MoSe2/rGO/GCE was further explored as urea sensor using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) techniques. The MoSe2/rGO/GCE showed good limit of detection of 2.1 μM along with sensitivity of 4.27 μA/μMcm2 towards the determination of urea. The MoSe2/rGO/GCE also showed good repeatability, stability, and selectivity.
