Abstract

Particle size is a key property of metal oxide particles manufactured by continuous hydrothermal synthesis (CHS) method. In this paper, a population balance model was presented for predicting the size distribution of particles synthesised using CHS method. An experimental rig was assembled for model validation. The nano-size TiO2 particles were produced in a continuous stirred cylinder reactor. The produced nano-particles were characterised by scanning electron microscopy and image analysis method. Good agreement between experimental and simulation results were obtained.
