Abstract

Magnetic zeolite P with the spherical form was successfully synthesized from low-grade fly ash via hydrothermal synthesis method. These samples were characterized by XRD, XRF, FTIR, BET, VSM, SEM and TEM. The textural properties of magnetic zeolite P were further studied by N2 adsorption-desorption technique. In addition, the vibrating sample magnetometer study confirmed that the saturation magnetization is 11.99 emu·g−1, indicating that magnetic zeolite P has sufficiently magnetic property to be attracted by a permanent magnet. Moreover, this facile approach to study saturation adsorption capacity and percentage removal of the magnetic zeolite P for Pb (II) and Cu (II) ions might expand the application of magnetic zeolite P in the adsorption of heavy metal ions, and it may be further extended to other magnetic zeolite materials.
