Abstract

A new Ni(II) coordination polymer with 4-((4′-carboxybenzyl)oxy)benzoic (H2obb) and 1,4-bis (imidazol-1-yl)benzene (bib) has been prepared by hydrothermal synthesis and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR, and element analysis. Complex {[Ni(obb)(bib)]·2H2O}n (1) is monoclinic, space group P21/c with a = 9.370 (5), b = 13.655 (5), c = 21.354 (5) Å, β = 94.480 (5)°, V = 2723.8 (19) Å3, Z = 4, Mr = 575.21, Dc = 1.403g/cm3, F(000) = 1192, and μ = 0.76 mm−1. The final refinement gave R = 0.0481 and wR = 0.0666 for 4648 reflections with I > 2σ(I). X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the complex 1 displays a two -dimensional structure with polycatenated 2D+2D→3D framework.
