Abstract

The hydrothermal reactions of V 2O 5, HF and an organodiphosphonic acid, in the presence of appropriate templating organoammonium or metal–organic complex cations provided three new oxyfluorovanadate compounds. The V(IV) species [H 3N(CH 2) 2NH 2(CH 2) 2NH 2(CH 2) 2NH 3][V 3O 3F 2(H 2O){O 3PCH 2PO 3} 2]·2H 2O ( 1·2H 2O) exhibits a three-dimensional anionic framework constructed from {VO(O 3PCH 2PO 3)} n 2 n − chains and {VF 2O 4} octahedra. The molecular structure of [N(CH 2CH 2NH 3) 3] 2[NH 4][V 3O 2F 6(O 3PCH 2PO 3) 2]·2H 2O ( 2·2H 2O) is characterized by the presence of unique {V 3O 2F 6(O 3PCH 2PO 3) 2} 7− clusters. The bimetallic phase [{Cu(ophen)}VOF{HO 3P(CH 2) 5PO 3}] ( 3) is one-dimensional with {Cu 2V 2O 2F 2(HO 3PR) 2(O 3PR) 2} cluster building blocks.
