Abstract

In this paper, a novel Parallelization technique of Modified Flower Pollination Algorithm (MFPA) is proposed to solve a practical non-linear optimization problem, that is, Short-term Hydro-Thermal scheduling (HTS). The proposed MFPA algorithm is experimented on two big, complicated multi-reservoir cascaded hydrothermal systems. The novel parallelization technique proposed is used to provide enough diversity in the crowds of swarms. Parallelization is a novel way to improve time consumption. However, in this work, Parallelization is used to increase the diversity in search space to improve convergence and search capability. Experimental results demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed algorithm.
