Abstract
Li-doped zinc oxide crystals up to 15 mm across the hexagonal section by 8 mm thick of very high purity and perfection have been grown hydrothermally in 22 mm bore platinum lined autoclaves. The use of ultra-pure nutrient has given crystals of improved perfection and purity. The crystalline perfection was examined by X-ray topography, and electron microscopy and the various forms of defect found are described.
