Abstract

This two-part article describes the technical advances that have resulted from both field and test-rig trials of James Walker's HydroSele, and how captured data are being used to push the performance envelope of this sealing system to enable it to cope with the most demanding run-of-river and pump-storage applications. It also highlights what the firm believes are the key issues with main shaft seal designs – both radial and axial – and how HydroSele is able to overcome them.
