Abstract
The paper presents the results of a study of the physicochemical and sorption characteristics of the modified silica clay. It is established that the modification of the silica clay provides an increase in the hydrophobicity, specific surface, and porosity of the sorbent, and also increases its capacity in petroleum absorption. It was found out that the modified silica clay is a highly effective sorbent with respect to emulsified petroleum products. The sorption activity of the modified silica clay on petroleum products was estimated using sorption isotherms.
