Abstract
The interaction of SnCl 2 · 2H 2O and the heptadentate tripodal Schiff base saltren yields in moderate yield the hexacoordinate Sn(IV) complex [Sn(saltren)]Cl (1). In addition, there is extensive destruction of the ligand, yielding the component triamine and aldehydes. The crystal structure of [Sn(saltren)]Cl · (salicylaldehyde) ( 1 · (sal)), is reported.
