Abstract

Rainfall and discharge were measured for almost 5 years in a 300 ha forested watershed in Surinam. Groundwater levels were measured for 2 years. The hydrological data were used in a simulation model for plant growth. Estimates were made on effective rooting depth, transpiration reduction in the dry season, and the contribution of interception to total water use. Possible relations between hydrological characteristics of the forest and nutrient cycling are given. (Abstract retrieved from CAB Abstracts by CABI’s permission)
