Abstract

A nanocrystalline composite of Mg–LaNi 3–Cu has been prepared by reactive mechanical alloying of Mg, Cu and LaNi 3 powders after 60 h ball-milling under a hydrogen atmosphere. This composite desorbed 1.06 mass% of hydrogen at 533 K under a hydrogen pressure of 0.1 MPa. Addition of Cu promotes the hydrogen desorption.
