Abstract

For the purpose of improving hydrogen permeation, Y2O3–CuO–CeO2 (YCC) mixed oxides were successfully prepared using the sol–gel method with and without oxalic acid. The obtained powder was characterized by XRD, TG/DTA, BET and FE-SEM techniques. The YCC mixed oxide with 10wt.% Ni metal powder as a composite membrane was prepared by hot-press sintering method (HPS) with a mechanical alloying process. The hydrogen permeation test of YCC/10wt.% Ni membrane was measured at room temperature with increasing pressure. Hydrogen permeation flux through a YCC/10wt.% Ni membrane was obtained at 7.7×10−7mol/m2s. Reaction enthalpy was calculated as −1.24J/mol using Arrhenius's plot.
