Abstract

The evidence for the formation of two different hydride phases corresponding to MmNi 4.6 Al 0.4 H 2.2 and MmNi 4.6 Al 0.4 H 4.2 in the alloy system MmNi 4.6 Al 0.4 is presented. The results are based on desorption isotherms in the temperature range 293–343K and pressures up to 25 atm, and desorption by differential heating on 16–18 kg weight of the alloy contained in the storage device ST-90®. In the course of its evaluation as a storage device coupled to a PEM fuel cell, the thermodynamic parameters ΔH and ΔS are also reported.
