Abstract
Ru catalysts prepared using NaX, NaY, KL and NaMordenite as supports have been characterized by H 2 and CO chemisorption. Significant suppression of hydrogen chemisorption was found for the ion-exchanged catalysts as the Si Al ratio of the zeolite support increased. Chemical interactions between the metal and the support are considered the main cause of this hydrogen chemisorption suppression. It is suggested that the acidic hydroxyl groups are involved in these interactions. These interactions are greatly affected by method of preparation and metal loading.
