Abstract
The energy spectra of a hydrogen atom confined in an ellipsoidal cavity with nucleus located at any position of the symmetric axis has been calculated using linear variational method. B -splines have been used as basis functions, which can easily construct the trial wave functions with appropriate boundary and cusp conditions. The energy levels as functions of the eccentric rate and the nuclear position are analyzed.
