Abstract
of hydraulic testing of two types of helical polymer packings – with a solid (HPP) and perforated (HPPP) surface – are presented. Experiments were conducted in a tower with a rectangular section of 250 ∞ 250 mm. Comparative studies of the helical packings indicated hydrodynamic preferences for the perforated packing. Moreover, the hydraulic resistance of the irrigated packing was reduced by 30% in the film regime, and by 40% in the holdup regime. Equations are presented for calculation of the hydraulic resistance of the dry and irrigated packings.
