Abstract

Hydrodynamic processes into scaled models of propellant tanks with screen collectors and vane capillary devices under microgravity conditions are discussed. The long-duration experiments were realized on the VOLNA-2 Russian hydrodynamic facility on board the MIR space station. The video and telemetry data were obtained during four tanks models testing. Liquid-gas surfaces equilibrium forms, spectra of gas bubbles and their coalescence, filling and draining processes of liquids were defined. Screen and vane tank accessory were verified up to the limits of normal operations. The VOLNA-2A facility project for heat and hydrodynamic processes investigations in cryogenic liquids in microgravity is proposed.
