Abstract

The interaction of 4 MeV proton beams with a DT target covered by an aluminium absorber and lead tamper layers are calculated basing on the hydrodynamic model. The Rayleigh‐Taylor and Kelvin‐Helmoltz instabilities are analyzed. The time evolution of particle distribution are obtained for two intensities of proton beams 5 TW and 120 TW per cm2. The dynamics of the target interface perturbations caused by the non‐uniformity of the beam cross section is studied. (AIP)
