Abstract

Acute administration of hydrocortisone does not alter the serum gastrin levels appreciably. Corticosteroids, administered for five days in dogs, significantly increased basal serum gastrin levels as well as the serum gastrin response to a meat meal. The rise in serum gastrin levels after hydrocortisone stimulated a substantial increase in gastric acid output.
