Abstract

A case of communicating hydrocephalus in a squirrel monkey is described. Shortly after birth it exhibited systemic twitching and severe depression. Grossly there was a wide dilation of lateral ventricles. Microscopically there was subependymal astroglial proliferation in the lateral ventricles and the aqueduct of Sylvius. Injury or inflammation can both cause such a case of hydrocephalus.
