Abstract

The Ukrainian part of the Western Black Sea consists of the Odessa Shelf, which has shallow water (up to 100 m) and covers an area of 35,000 km2, and the northeastern part of the Western Black Sea Basin southwest of the Crimea Peninsula with water depths of 100–2200 m over an area of 50,000 km2 (Figure 1).
