Abstract
The stoichiometric preparation of Pd complexes as discrete Pd compounds is presented. A brief account of the preparation and characterization of hydropalladium complexes is given followed by a discussion on their chemical behavior. The special significance of chiral Pd (0) and Pd (II) complexes in asymmetric synthesis is discussed. Inorganic or nonorganometallic Pd (0) and Pd (II) complexes converted stoichiometrically or under catalytic conditions into organopalladium derThe special significance of chiral Pd (0) and Pd (II) complexes in asymmetric synthesis is discussed. Inorganic or nonorganometallic Pd (0) and Pd (II) complexes converted stoichiometrically or under catalytic conditions into organopalladium derivatives for Pd-catalyzed organic synthesis is outlined. A brief discussion of the general methods of the synthesis and generation of organopalladium derivatives is presented followed by a summary of those Pd (0) and Pd (II) complexes containing C ligands that have been obtained as discrete species. The chapter concludes with a discussion of the as yet rare Pd complexes: Pd (I), Pd (III), and Pd (IV).
