Abstract
A critical examination of the current literature data on the phase equilibria and P, T conditions of f.c.c. ytterbium hydride formation is given. Some low pressure measurements of the dissociation equilibrium pressure are reported for the f.c.c. phases in the YbH 2-YbH 2.50 composition range. An apparent shoulder on the P-C isotherm at 235 °C located in the composition region [H]/[Yb] = 2.27–2.29 is evidence of the existence of the β′ phase.
