Abstract

The crystal structure of N 2 H 5 + .C 4 H 5 O 6 - consists of infinite chains of tartrate anions linked head-to-tail by O-H...O hydrogen bonds. Two such chains are cross-connected by O-H...O hydrogen bonds to form dimeric chains. The hydrazinium cations sit at the centre of four such tartrate dimers and bridge them by two-centre and three-centre N-H...O hydrogen bonds. As a whole, the structure is stabilized by numerous hydrogen bonds.
