Abstract
Proton spin-lattice relaxation data as a function of concentration in aqueous solutions of LiCl and LiBr are interpreted in terms of a two state model. The data and this model, which is based upon the assumption of two kinds of water, bound and free, give a hydration number for the Li + ion of 4.9.
