Abstract

In this study, a hybrid vibration sensor is proposed and investigated, in which an electric signal from a primary piezoelectric vibration transducer is used to modulate optical radiation using an electro-optic modulator. The modulator is made using integrated-optics technology based on the Mach–Zehnder layout of a reflective type with combined input/output to an optical fiber with conservation of polarization. The measured threshold vibration sensitivity of the sensor was approximately ${{10}^{ - 5}}\;{\rm m}/{{\rm s}^2}$10−5m/s2 in the acoustic frequency range.
