Hybrid resonant organic‐inorganic nanostructures for novel light emitting devices and solar cells

Abstract

AbstractThe energy transfer from an inorganic layer to an organic component of resonant hybrid organic/inorganic nanos‐tructures can be used for creation of new type of LED. We mentioned the problem of electrical pumping which has to be solved. As was first suggested in 1979 by Dexter the transfer energy in opposite direction from organic part of nanostructure to semiconductor layer can be used for the creation of new type of solar cells.In this note we stress the importance of the idea by Dexter for photovoltaics and solar cells. We argue that the organic part in such hybrid structures can play a role of an effective organic collector of the light energy (© 2010 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
