Abstract
We describe a hybrid method of calculating exciton state and level densities which combines the calculation of energy-dependent spin moments with a combinatorial calculation of the energy dependence of the total density of states. We show, in an example, that the spin distribution is well approximated by a distribution constructed from the moments.
