Abstract
Hybrid white light-emitting devices consisting of inorganic semiconducting quantum dots of ZnO and ZnS and conducting polymers in a superstrate configuration are reported. Low-temperature wet chemical route was followed to synthesize quantum dots. Spin coating technique was used for the fabrication of devices where multilayers of self-organized nanoparticles were vertically aligned on conducting polymers and a transparent indium titanium oxide substrate. Optical, electroluminescence, and IV characterization of the devices revealed that they exhibit broad emission spectra covering the entire visible range at low turn-on voltage. Moreover, these Cd free devices present cheaper, cleaner, and greener solutions for futuristic display and lighting applications.
