Abstract

In this work, spin-assisted hybrid films of graphene oxide (GO) modified with gold nanorods (Au NRs) were prepared, with a subsequent chemical reduction (RGO). The Au NRs were homogeneously distributed on GO edges and surface, showing a strong interaction between both nanomaterials. The RGO/Au NRs hybrid films were used as substrate for detection studies of crystal violet by surface enhancement Raman spectroscopy (SERS). The results demonstrate that the hybrid RGO/Au NRs films prepared by the spin coating technique have great potential as SERS substrates using low amounts of nanomaterials displaying an enhancement factor of 103.
