Abstract
This Paper deals with a hybrid excited synchronous machine. The main feature of the assembly is the double axis orientation of the two excitation systems. With this layout the reluctance torque of the machine is kept and the torque is increased over the whole speed range. In the following explanations the advantages and disadvantages of the system are discussed. In particular analytic reflections and finite element simulations are analyzed.
