Abstract

Diffraction coefficients for the hybrid diffraction processes which occur when curved surface rays (creeping waves) are diffracted by first and second order discontinuities of scattering surfaces are constructed in the two-dimensional scalar case. These new results are checked versus short-wavelength asymptotic representations of known solutions and versus two new solutions to canonical problems which are the diffraction of creeping waves by an edge and by a discontinuity in the surface impedance.
