Abstract

In Cellular communication network the spectrum have to be efficiently utilized (reused) for fulfilling the increasing numbers of users else will lead to call drop. Channel allocation techniques are employed for reduction of call blocking probability (CBP). Reducing CBP may elevate the interference, which may not satisfy the total traffic demand. In this work, Genetic Algorithm (GA) & Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) are applied to Hybrid Channel Allocation technique. The CBP and computation time is calculated for Non-uniform traffic demand considering co-channel interference. The proposed methods show a reduction in CBP along with reduction in computation time with PSO than GA. Results show reduction in CBP as compared with the reported work for a 49 cell benchmark problem.
