Abstract

AbstractWireless sensor networks with distinct node property referred to as heterogeneous sensor node covers a large area for sensing purpose. The most appealing characteristic of sensor nodes is systematic information collection and the further transmission to a remote base station. Performance of the node is affected by the malicious nature. The sensor nodes are susceptible to errors and malicious assaults. The impacted or compromised sensor nodes can send erroneous information or inaccurate reports to the destination. Therefore, precise and timely identification of malicious and defective nodes is essential to ensure reliable network functioning. In this paper, a hybrid acknowledgment scheme (HAS) is considered for prior detection of malicious nodes in order to reduce the degree of energy consumption. The autonomous sensor node in wireless sensor network is grouped into number of clusters. The base station shares the cluster key to every sensor node within the network. The malicious nodes are then detected by receiving the acknowledgment from the destination node. The effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed system are evaluated in terms of throughput.KeywordsHybrid acknowledgmentHeterogeneous sensor nodeMalicious nodeCluster headData forwarding
