Summary

Teoretisk perspektiv

Kleinman (1980 s. 50) har utviklet en modell for krysskulturell sammenligning av ulike helseomsorgssystemer: Familesektor profesjo nell sektor folkelig sektor. Den folkelige sektoren består av ikke-profesjonelle behandlere med nær tilknytning til lokal kultur og virkelighetsoppfatning. Problemstillingen for denne studien er: Hvilke ønsker har eldre med etnisk minoritetsbakgrunn for en alderdom i Norge? Formålet med det kvalitative forskningsintervjuet er å få et empirisk materiale som består av den intervjuedes egen fremstilling av seg selv. Når forskerne i tillegg er etnisk norske, slik som i denne studien, er det en fare for at dette vil påvirke hva informantene vil snakke om i et intervju. Informantene kan ønske å fremstå som takknemlige og høflige i møte med etnisk norske og derfor ikke formidle alle sine ønsker og meninger. Det var ikke vår hensikt å knytte svarene til en bestemt nasjonalitet eller etnisk gruppe, men det var viktig at informantene representerte land som har et større antall innvandrere i Norge.
