Abstract

Metal oxide nanoparticles such as MgO and SiO 2 have been investigated as fillers in low density polyethylene. The surface modification of the metal oxide nanoparticles were done with functional methyl, ethyl, hexadecyl or octyl silane. The distribution and dispersion of the nanoparticles in the LDPE is determined by SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy). The low frequency techniques like dielectric spectroscopy, Very Low Frequency (VLF) tan delta, VLF partial discharge measurements and polarization and depolarization current measuring techniques were used to study the dielectric response of Nano dielectrics. The results are presented and discussed.
