Abstract

An analysis of the husband-wife differences in scores on the 10 traits of the Guilford-Zimmerman Temperament Survey in relation to various levels of marital happiness-unhappiness showed unhappiness is generally a function of more extreme differences in husband-wife scores on all traits, but especially when in favor of the husband in G—General Activity, A—Ascendency, E—Emotional Stability, and O—Objectivity and when in favor of the wife in F—Friendliness and P—Personal Relations.
