Abstract
The article examines the longterm artistic reflection of the poet David Samoilov on the work and tragic life of the Hungarian poet Miklos Radnoti. The purpose of the work is to show the dynamics of this reflection and try to explain its reasons. The range of attention includes translations made by Samoilov for the first Russianlanguage collection of Radnoti “Poems” (1968), autodocumentary and literary critical confessions of Samoilov regarding work on Radnoti’s translations, as well as the poem “Fantasy about Radnoti” written by him in the early 1980s, included in the collection “Voices Beyond the Hills”.
