Abstract

The objectives of this paper are the following: (1) to outline the state of the art of humor research in terms of its nature and scope in anthropology; (2) to examine methodological issues in the general area of anthropological research and their impact on humor research; and (3) to discuss anthropological contributions to theoretical developments in humor research.
