Abstract

Utilising carboxyl graphene as a sensing material for humidity detection was the focus of this research. The carboxyl graphene was dissolved in water at 25°C to prepare a carboxyl graphene solution. Different thickness of Carboxyl graphene thin films on quartz crystal microbalance were prepared by the drop coating technique. Then the humidity sensing characteristics of carboxyl graphene thin film were studied by quartz crystal microbalance sensors. The maximum level of relative humidity sensed was ∼71 Hz/%RH, with a relative humidity range from 10 to 97%. The quartz crystal microbalance humidity sensors modified by carboxyl graphene film were stable, and displayed high-quality reproducibility properties. The results from this research support the hypothesis that carboxyl graphene can be used as a humidity sensing material.
