Abstract

This study presents the results of a bench experiment on the formation of aldehydes during the ozonation process. The objective of this research is to investigate the influence of source of organic matter on aldehyde production and compare the amounts of aldehydes produced by the ozonation of humic and fulvic acids. Our results show that fulvic acids are major precursors of aldehydes generated during oxidation of humic substances by ozone.
