Abstract

This paper provides an analysis of human sexual development in terms of three related but independent components-1) a person's sexual structures and futnctions (male or female); 2) his sex-role identification and behavior (masculine or feminine); and 3) his genital arousal and behavior relative to source, direction, aim, and object of gratification (heterosexual, homosexual, or other). A suggested conceptual framework relative to human sexual development is presented. The purpose is to differentiate and clarify existing concepts and terms in the psychosexual area.
