Abstract

The concern for promotion and protection of human rights has been extraordinary over the years. Their protection demands an enabling social and political milieu and indeed conducive environment through appropriate regulations, institutions and procedures framing the action of the State. Although the linkages between good governance and human rights can be traced in the provisions of human rights instruments, it is only recently that the idea of good governance has entered the international discourses on economic development and human rights. The interplay between good governance and human rights is a remarkable value addition that governance provides to development, human rights, and vice versa.
