Abstract

Human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is an important pathogen responsible for bronchitis and pneumonia in young children.No safe and effective vaccines are available so far.Great progress has been made in molecular biology,epidemiology,and pathogenic mechanism of RSV during the past several decades.In this paper,virological and epidemiological characteristics,and vaccine development strategies of RSV are reviewed.
